Description
In 1935 Benjamin (Benny) Howard set the aviation world on it's ear when he introduced his Howard DGA-6 (Damn Good Airplane) named "Mister" Mulligan.
Competing against other specially designed & prepared single place racing planes, "Mister" Mulligan, a four place cabin monoplane, won both the prestigious Bendix & Thompson trophy races that year.
"Mister" Mulligan evolved into the Howard DGA series which became not only one of the1930's most noted executive and business aircraft but was also used by both the Army & Navy in WWII as a transport and training aircraft. Today, Howards are lovingly restored, cared for and flown by antique airplane enthusiasts.
In 1982 Jim & Bob Younkin recreated an exact reproduction of Benny's marvel and that aircraft was a sensation at Fly-ins & airshows around the country.
Though flown only on occasion these days Jim along with pilot Doug Rozendaal brought "Mister" Mulligan to the 2015 AAA/APM Invitational Fly-in at Antique Airfield near Blakesburg, Iowa where it again was one of the sensations of the event !
